Cass grew up in the small coastal town of Inverloch. After starting piano lessons at age 5, Cass began her brass career on trumpet at age 8, joining the Wonthaggi Citizens’ Band on cornet thereafter. She performed regularly during her time at Wonthaggi Secondary College, and has also appeared in leading roles in musical productions such as Honk! and Oliver!, and as a solo vocalist in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular.

Cass joined the City of Greater Dandenong Band in 2013, initially on cornet before making the change to flugel horn. She is an active member of the committee, acting as Treasurer since 2017. Outside the band, Cass is known for her vocal and piano performances as a singer songwriter, and as a PhD Candidate in Public Health at Monash University.
