SIMON WILTSHIRE
Solo Cornet

 

Simon began learning music and playing with the Kew Youth Band in 1990. Starting on percussion he changed to tenor horn then flugel horn before finally settling on the cornet.

 

Simon played with Kew Youth Band & Kew Brass from 1990 to 1998, then moved to and played with Diamond Valley Brass Band until 2009, during this time he also played with the Eltham Concert Band from 1996 to 2001. He found his current home at the City of Greater Dandenong Brass Band in 2014.

 

From 1995 to 2008 Simon played with the Victorian State Youth Brass Band before

moving into the administration of the band from 2008 to 2014.

 

Simon has competed in many solo completions over these years the highlight of which was winning the Junior Eb Cornet section at the 2002 National Brass Band

Championships in Geelong.
