NEIL BASSETT
Bass Trombone
Neil began playing in 1984 in the inaugural Castlemaine High School Band. He moved in to brass bands in 1986 on trombone with Thompson’s Foundary Band, Castlemaine. In 1989 Neil started playing first trombone with Marist Brother’s band Bendigo and also played with Marong, the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra, and performed with Bendigo Theatre Group. Neil moved on to Bass Trombone in 1993 at Hawthorn and held that position for 10 years. Since 2002 has played with Moorabbin, Kew, Darebin, Box Hill and others before settling at Dandenong in 2016.

3 Nationals wins in A-grade with Hawthorn as well as winning the North American Brass Band Association championship in a 2 week tour of the US in 1994.

C-grade Nationals win with Marist Brothers

Performance on CD with Hawthorn, Kew, Box Hill and the Victoria Police Band.

State Championship wins in Junior Tenor Trombone and Open Bass Trombone.
Outside of banding Neil is studying a diploma of Community Services, he volunteers with the SES and enjoys time with his 3 kids.
