KEITH PERRY
Trombone

Keith started playing in 1984 with the Mordialloc Junior Band. The next year he changed to trombone and was in the Senior Band.

Keith first joined the City of Dandenong Band in 1986, and has been a member on and off ever since.

Keith has played 1st, 2nd & Bass Trombone, Euphonium, 1st Baritone and Solo Horn in the band. Plus a moment of insanity helping on 2nd Cornet and Percussion! He has performed on every brass band part except Drum Kit (not all with Dandenong)!

Keith has previously been a member of the Hawthorn, Boorandarra Brass, Moorabbin, Ringwood and Frankston bands, plus various concert bands, stage bands and orchestras. Not to mention all the bands he has helped.

Keith was the MD of the City of Bayside Brass Band, the band his grandfather had played Trombone in and was President of. He had been a tutor/ mentor with the Victorian State Youth Brass Band, a role he has taken back up with the Dandenong Youth Band.

In 2016 Keith was injured, resulting in permanent injury to his bottom lip. Thru a lot of hard work he has gotten back to playing, but now has to restrict himself to Bass / Tenor Trombone and Euphonium.

Keith's middle child plays Baritone and has joined the Youth Band, resulting in Keith coming back, again, to the band. His partner, Nat, plays Clarinet...she partially redeems herself by putting Bass in front of it! Keith is still working on her to learn brass. His youngest likes to jam with him on her recorder, triangle and piano. Or honking on the Flugelhorn, that she calls “ her little trombone”. His oldest is not musically inclined.

Influences to Keith's playing include: Wayne Bowden, Geoff Coote, Tracey Videon
