DANDENONG BRASS
Dandenong Youth Brass (DYB) initiative launched in 2021. Formerly under the name Springvale Brass, Dandenong Youth Brass is a brass band within the City of Greater Dandenong Band family. DYB strives to provide a community in which youth can further develop their musicianship and ensemble skills, and have fun playing music together.
DYB’s Musical Directors Rachael Shineton and Quinn Kellock, are brass instrumentalists who are both passionate about banding and music education. Rachael studied a Bachelor of Music Performance (Trombone) at The Victorian College of the Arts and completed a Post Graduate Diploma of Education at ACU in Melbourne. She worked as a Brass instrumental specialist and Classroom Music teacher at various Melbourne schools for 20 years.
Quinn studied a Bachelor of Jazz Improvisation on Trombone at The James Morrison Academy of Music in Mount Gambier, South Australia. He currently enjoys working as a Brass specialist instrumental teacher and ensemble director in the secondary school sector. Both Rachael and Quinn are dedicated members of the City of Greater Dandenong Band. DYB is also supported by an excellent team of City of Greater Dandenong Band committee members and tutors.
