Allan Lord first began playing baritone at age 13 as part of the King Island Municipal Band where his father was the bandmaster as well as the Queenstown Silver Band in Tasmania. 1976 saw Allan move to Brisbane where he joined South Brisbane Federal and met his future wife Madonna. Two years later in 1978 Allan moved to Melbourne and became a member of the Kew Citizens Band and eventually joined Ringwood Brass Band (now Maroondah Brass) playing both euphonium or baritone as required.
Allan has been awarded a life membership of Kew Band as well as a 25 year medal of service to bands from the NBCA, and he has won the Victorian Championship for Baritone on two occasions.It has only been in the last few years Allan has taken up playing the Tuba, and has been welcomed into the City of Greater Dandenong Band’s tuba section in 2013, where his brother Colin is a life member and ex musical director.
