TIM HELLYER

Tim joined the City of Greater Dandenong Band in the year 2000 at the young age of 11. He is the Grandson of former band member and Life Member, Bruce Collard. Tim is currently the Band's Principal Cornet and he thoroughly enjoys the challenges this chair brings. 

Tim attended high school at Blackburn High and was exposed to a huge number of amazing musical experiences in their music program. The highlight of which being a trip to America to perform at Monterey's Next Generation Jazz Festival. Tim has performed at a number of prestigious events including World Ten Dancesport Championships, Australian Dancesport Championship Gala Dinners, MCC statue unveilings and Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop Medical Research Foundation Symposiums to name a few. 

Tim ran a swing big band for a number of years which performed at all of Melbourne notorious Jazz venues as well as a number of events including Channel 7's Premier of Steven Spielberg and Tom Hank's TV Series, The Pacific.

 

Tim held the position of President of the City of Greater Dandenong Band for 10 years from 2012 to 2022. Tim worked tirelessly as the Band President and in 2017 was recognised for his service and dedication to the Band being awarded Life Membership.

 

As well as playing with Dandenong, Tim enjoys helping out other brass bands and big bands when he can. During the day Tim works in Construction Management for a large construction company in Melbourne.
